My Story

Hello. Welcome to Patterned Design!

I'm Nataliya, a professionally trained floral designer and self-taught artist fascinated by life's exquisite colours and patterns.

Growing up in the countryside, I was always immersed in nature and art. As a child, I would wander the forests, fields, and gardens and see beautiful patterns dancing around me. There was an endless supply of vivid magical stories that I still carry in my heart and mind. Nature always does its best; all I had to do was look and see.

My father, an artist, inspired me to observe, create, and connect from a young age. Through his art books, I learned more about classical Greco-Roman art and architecture, fell in love with the simplicity of medical tapestries and became obsessed with the Renaissance colour palette. Watching him working on large scale murals, illustrations or calligraphy, taught me to combine imagination with practicality.

Learning, improving and evolving is another obsession of mine. From the Floral Design course at Convent Garden Academy of Flowers to painting lessons at London Fine Art Studio and Media Training where I mastered Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, generating new skills is always ongoing. 

So no wonder years later, when I found myself in London, I was drawn to the world of floristry and patterned design. Having the privilege to work with the UK's most talented floral artists and event companies at various breathtaking locations, including Royal Households, I was surrounded by constant inspiration. I saw the opportunity to bring joy and beauty to others.

My journey now culminates in my life passion: to create gorgeous patterns that bring an abundance of happiness to my clients. 

Patterned Design has been formed through hard work and some courage. My focus is on creating tailored artwork for the interiors, printed textiles and bespoke style commissions and helping my clients express themselves with my help, skills and knowledge. Each home and design should tell the story, and my goal is to help.

In my journey to deliver bespoke artwork, I am mindful of the environmental impact. My ethos to protect our ecosystem has led me to the business model based on collaboration with UK-based, environmentally friendly printing companies. I can order manageable quantities to reduce waste and ensure water-based, and low VOC ink is used.

Producing small amounts allows me to customise each pattern design so that each piece is original - a breath of fresh air and imagination on your walls and textiles.
